Axon provides electronic control devices to law enforcement and corrections agencies, and they are seeking a Product Designer II to enhance their Records product. The role involves leading design projects, collaborating with UX researchers, and applying human-centered design principles to improve law enforcement productivity.
Execute End-to-End Design Process: Lead and contribute to medium-sized projects across multiple product areas and teams within our Records product. Follow an end-to-end design process including research and discovery through prototyping, final implementation and tracking usage metrics.
Collaborate with our UX researchers to conduct studies to deeply understand our users, their needs, motivations, and contexts.
Incorporate insights and deep knowledge of our users to define and build a grounded and innovative experience vision alongside product management and engineering partners.
Apply principles of humane and human-centered design across the product development cycle to design, evaluate, and iterate on product concepts from inception to execution.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, and Research to define scope, prioritize features, and deliver experiences that balance user needs and business goals.
Communicate Effectively. Present and communicate research findings, prototypes, design directions and rationale to stakeholders such as peers, cross-functional partners, senior leaders, and external customers to build alignment and support.
Contribute to product-level UX guidelines and best practices to ensure consistency and scalability across the Axon ecosystem.
Educate teams on UX standards, accessibility, and best practices, advocating for user-centric solutions.
Handle complex projects with medium levels of ambiguity, proactively seeking solutions and spearheading clarity.
Qualification
Required
Bachelors degree and 2-5 years of experience in UX/Product Design, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Problem Solver: Proactively identifies user angsts and uncovers opportunities for improvement, even outside assigned areas. Anticipates user challenges and designs solutions with measurable impact.
Advanced proficiency in Figma and other design tools for wireframing and prototyping.
Solid comprehension of user scenarios, industry trends, and product usability best practices.
Impressive communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design rationale and influence stakeholders.
Comfort navigating medium levels of ambiguity and adapting to evolving project needs.
Affinity for designing impactful, user-centered experiences in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
Experience with interacting with customers and users to gather insights and feedback.
You have a portfolio showing both design and research work available for review.
Preferred
Experience with in critical systems, complex collaborative work, law enforcement, and/or public safety is considered a big plus.
