Visa is a world leader in payments and technology, seeking a Design Engineer - Chart Visualization to create engaging data experiences. The role involves developing innovative data visualization solutions and collaborating with various teams to enhance user experience and accessibility.
Develop innovative solutions for complex data visualization and insight communication challenges
Collaborate with designers, developers, and product managers from Global Design and our partner Product teams, providing subject matter expertise on crafting beautiful, accessible, and innovative data experiences.
Design, refine, and maintain data visualization components, patterns, and tooling for our VCC library, collaborating closely with engineers on the VCC team to identify opportunities for enhancements and for improving the designer and developer experience.
Create and maintain guidelines and documentation, enabling product teams across Visa to understand and apply data visualization best practices.
Partner with the accessibility team to establish and evangelize accessibility guidelines for data experiences, ensuring they meet WCAG and Visa’s Global Accessibility Requirements (VGAR).
Support VCC’s user community of designers, business analysts, and engineers from Global Design and our partner Product teams, to help them leverage VCC to the fullest within their products.
Assist with developing and delivering training on Data Visualization and Data Experience design.
Qualification
Required
2 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD, or PhD).
Preferred
3 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or more than 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD)
Expertise in data visualization principles and techniques.
Strong knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design principles for data visualization and data experience design.
Expert-level proficiency in digital design software including Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.
Experience in creating and maintaining design systems or component libraries focused on Data Visualization.
Demonstrated mastery of visual design skills, including layout, visual hierarchy, and typography.
Strong working knowledge of information architecture, interaction design, and human centered design methods.
Comfortable working at different levels of fidelity in your designs and switching between them.
Detail oriented with a keen eye to spot single pixel deformities.
Effectively convey your design decisions to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences.
Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt techniques and processes to an ever-changing eco-system of design tooling, techniques and technologies.
A strong interest in Generative AI and its applications in data experience design.
Can demonstrate abilities through shareable (public facing) data visualization experiences.
